Mazdutide
Also called Maz · GLP-1/GCG
Mazdutide is a weekly weight-management drug that also has a type 2 diabetes indication in China. People comparing it with tirzepatide want to know about appetite, weight loss and tolerability; it targets a different combination of hormone receptors, so doses are not interchangeable.
Dosage & duration

Weight-management questions
Weight loss, a different pathway and tolerability
-
Weight loss
GLORY-1 found average weight loss in Chinese adults with overweight or obesity.
-
A different second target
GLP-1 plus glucagon activity does not by itself establish an advantage over tirzepatide.
-
Stomach symptoms
Gastrointestinal effects were the most frequently reported events in GLORY-1.
What makes mazdutide interesting?
The appeal is another effective weight-management option, including a different hormone target from tirzepatide. In GLORY-1, the 6 mg group lost about 14% of starting weight on average at 48 weeks versus a small gain with placebo. Individual results varied.
What are physique users looking for?
Community questions focus on losing fat without losing muscle, appetite control and whether switching from tirzepatide would feel different. Bodybuilding discussions also debate lean-mass findings, while individual experience reports range from enthusiasm to little noticeable effect.
Those reports do not establish better muscle retention or a more effective cut. GLORY-1 studied Chinese adults with overweight or obesity, with diet and exercise guidance; it did not test a muscle-preserving bodybuilding regimen. The receptor combination is a reason to study mazdutide, not proof that it is a better fit for a lifter.
Does it beat tirzepatide?
That trial compared mazdutide with placebo, not tirzepatide. Comparing headline percentages from different populations does not settle which works better for an individual, and the same weekly milligram amount is not an equivalent dose.
Approval and product matter
The cited filing confirms Chinese indications. It does not mean a research vial sold elsewhere is an approved medicine or the same formulation used in the trial. Regulatory status and access need checking in the country where treatment is considered.
Duration and tolerability
The trial followed treatment over months. Stomach-related effects were common, mostly mild to moderate in that study. The published duration should not be read as a cycle with an automatic stopping point.

How to read this estimate
Estimated from label parameters; the calibration peak is calculated, not a reported measurement. Compare amounts and timing in mg.
Concentrations estimated from label parameters and an assumed absorption profile.
Assumptions, calculation and sources
Innovent mazdutide injection; label published on manufacturer domain.. subcutaneous. Chinese label population: adults with overweight/obesity; fixed mean PK parameters..
mazdutide: estimated concentration in plasma (ng/mL).
Innovent Chinese label: Tmax7–28h, rounded mean terminal half-life about10days. Label apparent clearance .0368L/h and volume11.2L.
- Calibration dose
- 2 mg
- Derived calibration peak
- 165.0307 ng/mL
- Peak timing used
- 24 hours
- Terminal half-life used
- 210.9578 hours
- Reconstructed absorption rate
- 0.1669593 /hour
- Both clearance and volume are apparent (CL/F, V/F); F is already included. Do not apply another F. Cmax=(doseMg*1000/(V/F))*exp(-ke*Tmax) ng/mL.
- Dose scaling and repeated-dose superposition use fixed parameters; the example dose does not calibrate the curve.
- A one-compartment structure and 24 h peak time are authored assumptions; the calculated peak is not an observed endpoint.
- Apparent volume 11.2 L and clearance 0.0368 L/h imply a 210.96 h half-life; the label independently rounds half-life to about 10 days.
- Proposed Cmax is CALCULATED, not an observed study endpoint. Prefer metadata saying label-parameter estimate over observed-endpoint estimate.
- First-order absorption and one compartment are our structural assumptions; label does not supply ka or a complete published compartment model.
- Label mean apparent volume/clearance imply an8.79-day half-life rather than rounded10days; these independently summarized quantities need not coincide.
- Older trial first-dose Tmax~72h differs from current product label; formulation/cohort differences remain unresolved, so do not combine them silently.

Common questions
Can I substitute the same milligrams for tirzepatide?
No equivalent-dose conversion is established by these sources.
Is combining it with tirzepatide the same as retatrutide?
No. Combining two drugs does not reproduce the exposure or evidence of a different single molecule.

- Compared with tirzepatide
- Mazdutide combines GLP-1 with glucagon activity; that alone does not prove superiority.
