Reconstitution Calculator
Volume arithmetic for entered amounts and a U-100 scale
This tool does not choose a dose or diluent, or determine sterility, storage conditions, or a discard date. Prefilled values and shortcut buttons are examples, not product instructions.
Configuration
Treated as the final solution volume. Check that assumption against the supplied concentration or preparation instructions; the tool does not select a diluent.
Results
Calculated concentration
0 mcg per mL
Calculated scale reading
Displayed decimals do not establish a syringe's measuring precision. Check the actual graduations and the product or pharmacy instructions.
U-100 scale illustration (1 mL capacity)
This is an educational calculation using a U-100 scale, where 100 scale units represent 1 mL. Syringe capacity does not change that conversion. FDA has reported dosing errors with compounded semaglutide involving confusion between mg, mL, and syringe units. Confirm the concentration, dose, and device with the pharmacist or prescriber. FDA dosing-error alert.
Arithmetic does not establish compatibility or a storage period. Follow the specific product or pharmacy preparation instructions; bacteriostatic water is not a universal diluent. See the bacteriostatic-water prescribing information and CDC injection-safety guidance.
About this tool
This calculator estimates concentration and volume from the amounts you enter, then converts the volume to a U-100 syringe scale. It assumes the entered diluent volume equals the final solution volume. It does not select a dose or diluent, verify product strength, or establish storage conditions or a discard date.
How to use it
- 1 Enter the total mass stated for the vial in mg; the calculator cannot verify the contents.
- 2 Enter the diluent volume in mL. The calculation treats this as the final solution volume, so check that assumption against the product or pharmacy instructions.
- 3 Enter the dose from the applicable instructions in mg or mcg. Prefilled values and shortcut buttons are examples, not recommended doses.
- 4 Compare the calculated volume and U-100 scale reading with the supplied instructions and device. Resolve any mismatch or capacity warning with the pharmacist or prescriber before use.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the calculator show units and mL?
The conversion is specifically for a U-100 scale: 100 scale units represent 1 mL. A scale unit is not a milligram or a universal drug dose. The 1 mL, 0.5 mL, and 0.3 mL choices change syringe capacity, not the U-100 conversion. Other device scales require their own instructions.
What if my dose exceeds the syringe capacity?
A capacity warning means the entered calculation does not fit the selected barrel. It does not authorize splitting a dose or changing the syringe, concentration, or prescription. FDA has reported compounded-semaglutide overdoses involving confusion between mg, mL, and syringe units; confirm the product concentration and device instructions with the pharmacist or prescriber.
Does a calculated result confirm that the preparation is usable?
No. Arithmetic cannot establish compatibility, sterility, stability, or a beyond-use date. Product-specific preparation instructions still apply. The displayed decimal places and syringe illustration do not establish the measuring precision of a real device.
