ARA-290 (Cibinetide)

Also called Cibinetide

ARA-290 is researched for burning, tingling and other symptoms of small-fiber neuropathy. Small human studies give it a more specific nerve-related rationale than a generic recovery peptide, but they do not establish that it repairs every type of nerve damage or relieves everyone’s pain.

Dosage & duration

A controlled dose-comparison study in sarcoidosis-associated neuropathy.

Nerve symptoms

Beyond the burning and tingling

  • Relief you can feel

Less pain, tingling or numbness is a different result from a change on a nerve test.

  • A more manageable day

Sleep, walking and ordinary activities help explain whether a change is useful.

  • Improvement that lasts

Early studies do not establish a lasting benefit for every cause of neuropathy.

Small disease-specific studies are encouraging; new discomfort alone does not prove nerve repair. Sources and context

Who is most interested

People with persistent burning, tingling, numbness or altered sensation often want something beyond temporary symptom relief. The cause matters: the clinical work includes sarcoidosis-associated and diabetic neuropathy, not every trapped nerve or spinal injury.

What is promising

Early controlled studies found changes in neuropathic symptoms and measures of small nerve fibers. That is a research signal worth distinguishing from a vague healing claim, but a nerve-density measure is not a guarantee that pain or function improves for each person.

How long did the studies last?

Several studies treated for 28 days and followed patients afterwards. That does not establish a universal four-week cycle, a maintenance dose or how durable any benefit will be. New or worsening sensations should not automatically be labelled “nerves waking up.”

Model details: ARA-290 (Cibinetide) · relative timing

Compare timing and buildup for this compound. The values are not blood concentrations or a measure of strength.

Shows a relative timing scenario; absolute blood concentrations are not calibrated.

Timing assumptions and sources

PKARA: healthy male crossover;4 mg SC n 5, Cmax 2.0±0.7 ng/mL, Tmax 6 min, AUC148 ng·min/mL, terminal~20 min. Later clinical paper summarizes~3 ng/mL; do not silently replace the original cohort mean.

One 1 mg input peaks at 1 relative unit after a single dose. Other amounts scale proportionally; overlapping doses add when accumulation is on. Different compounds use separate relative scales.

  • The faster rate is inferred to match the 0.1 h source-scoped peak time; absorption half-life 0.024645183502450502 h is a mathematical shape parameter, not separately measured.
  • A single 1-unit input has a peak of 1 relative unit; scaling and repeated-dose addition are mathematical assumptions. This normalization is independent of the example dose.
  • Source Cmax 2 ng/mL and AUC148 ng·min/mL imply an AUC/peak ratio 1.233 h; a 20 min/6 min one-compartment curve gives about 71 ng·min/mL, substantially below 148.
  • Reported 2/4/6 mg SC peaks 1.6/2.0/7.4 ng/mL are not proportional across all tested amounts.
  • Bioavailability and volume must not be invented.

Common questions

Does ARA-290 repair every damaged nerve?

No. The cited studies concern particular small-fiber neuropathy populations, not every spinal, compression or traumatic nerve problem.

Does increased tingling mean nerves are healing?

Not necessarily. A new symptom is not proof of regeneration and can need reassessment.
